Comment protéger son mur pour un jeu de fléchettes : le guide complet

How to protect your wall for a dart game: the complete guide

CYRIL eschenbrenner|

Three holes in the plaster, a ripped piece of wallpaper, a bent dart tip… Even the best players miss the target. And after a few months of regular games, the bill is steep: weakened plaster, paint to redo, security deposit at risk, and blunted dart tips.

Wall protection is not an optional accessory; it's a must-have. But you still need to choose the right one.

Why conventional solutions are not enough

Foam surrounds, cork boards, DIY plywood, dart cabinets… You've probably seen these options before. They all have the same flaw: they force you to choose between protection, aesthetics, and durability.

Foam wears out in a few weeks and only protects 12 cm around the target. Cork crumbles and yellows. Plywood looks like a "garage." The cabinet doesn't cover the top or bottom of the wall. And in all cases, the materials are rarely noble: MDF, particleboard, imported synthetic foam.

However, there is a solution that ticks all the boxes: the solid wood wall mount.

Solid wood: the best protection for your wall

Wood is the ideal material for a dartboard surround, for several reasons:

  • Darts stick in the wood instead of bouncing off, protecting your walls and dart tips
  • Solid wood absorbs vibrations: the game becomes silent, no more echoing impacts in the apartment
  • It lasts for decades without deteriorating, whereas foam or cork wear out in a few months
  • It's a decorative item in its own right, not an accessory you try to hide

It is precisely this conviction that guided us in choosing our dartboard surrounds.

Our Stella Hevea surrounds: Made in France wall protection

At Wooderna, we offer Stella dartboard surrounds made from laminated solid Hevea wood in Northern France, with the same expertise as the famous Stella foosball tables. Exceptional 50-year warranty.

How to install your Stella surround

Installation is quick and easy:

  1. Height: fix the surround so that the center of the dartboard is 1.73 m from the floor (official standard)
  2. Throwing distance: mark your line 2.37 m from the wall (steel tip darts)
  3. Fixing: Stella surrounds come with the complete fixing kit. Use wall plugs suitable for your wall (plasterboard, concrete, brick)
  4. Floor protection: place a small mat in front of the playing area for dropped darts
  5. Lighting: lighting above the dartboard improves accuracy and creates ambiance. Avoid shadows

In summary

Protecting your wall when playing darts is not a luxury; it's a necessity. And rather than stacking temporary solutions—foam that wears out, cork that crumbles, plywood that looks like a DIY project—it's better to invest once in a solid wood surround that protects, absorbs noise, beautifies your interior, and lasts 50 years.
